Search: PubMed en Cochrane. Gezocht naar systematic reviews en vergelijkende studies (al dan niet gerandomiseerd). Zoektermen: surgical patient, abdominal surgery, epidural catheter, epidural block, urinary catheter, indwelling urinary catheter, urinary catheterization, removal, urinary tract function, micturition, retention. Resultaten: 1 gerandomiseerde klinische studie (RCT) [1] en 1 cohort studie².
